If you’re a parent, co-parent, or caring for your aging parents, you know the drill: you’re the family IT department and the digital security guard.
It looks like this:
- Your kid hands you their phone at 10pm with a text that feels… off.
- Your mom forwards an “urgent” bank email that isn’t from her bank.
- Your teen is throwing around slang that makes no sense (67 and POS) and you’re left Googling at midnight.
- You get more spam email and texts than real ones.
- And somehow you’re supposed to keep everyone safe from predators, scams, and bad judgment, all while keeping everything else afloat.
That was me.
The Week Everything Changed
My wake-up call came when my son bypassed a top-rated parental control app in five minutes to prove to me he could.
I tried another parental control app with great reviews, I go to a well known porn site to test it.. and like magic he can access the site. Totally broken.
The next day my daughter is telling me about a friend she met on Roblox while on her brothers phone. I read the messages between them and am horrified to find she’s being groomed.
Then talking to a close friend of mine and they tell me their mom wired $300,000 to a romance scammer on Facebook, and she still thinks they are keeping her from the love of her life.
A few days later my best friend says she clicked the toll violation text message and was scammed out of her money.
That’s when I realized: the tools we’re told to rely on are broken. They’re built for locking down screen time, not protecting kids from sextortion. They don’t cover seniors, who are losing billions to scams every year. They don’t block the millions of scam attacks we’re under a day, and they sure don’t ease the stress on the caregivers left holding the bag.
Because here’s the truth: when we can access the world, the world can access us. We need to do better protecting our people.
Why I Built OneHaven
I couldn’t find anything that actually did what it said it would do. I didn’t set out to build a digital safety company. I set out to protect my family.
OneHaven is the tool I couldn’t find:
- Unlimited loved ones, one flat fee. No per-child pricing, no device limits, no trade-offs.
- AI that sees what you don’t. Scam texts, fake profiles, grooming attempts, phishing…they get flagged before anyone clicks.
- Dashboards built for real caregivers. Co-parents, adult children, partners…you see what matters without the chaos.
- Privacy-first by design. Because protection should never feel like spying.
The Real Value
Caregivers already carry enough. You shouldn’t have to spend your nights double-checking your teen’s DMs or trying to teach your mom the difference between a real bank link and a scam one.
With OneHaven, the stress shifts off your shoulders. Instead of constant what-ifs, you get peace of mind. The app flags risks, explains what’s happening, and helps you act before harm is done.
You don’t have to do this alone.
What’s Next
This is the first post on our blog, The Haven. It’s where I’ll share stories, insights, and updates as we build OneHaven.
Our mission is simple: protect lives, preserve wellbeing, and make digital safety a human right. I believe no parent, no caregiver, no adult should ever feel as powerless when trying to protect their loved ones.
